Alexandria, Va. – For the fourth consecutive year, Alexandria City Councilman Canek Aguirre introduced a proclamation to formally recognize September 15 through October 15 as Latino Heritage Month in the City of Alexandria. The Alexandria City Council unanimously passed Aguirre’s proclamation at last night's City Council Legislative Meeting. During the proclamation presentation, Aguirre was joined by Latino business owners, Commissioners, and City staff. Click here to watch the video.
“Latino Heritage Month is a time to reflect on the invaluable contributions Latinos and Hispanics have made to the fabric of our society,” said Councilman Canek Aguirre. “As the first Latino to serve on the Alexandria City Council, I am honored to introduce this proclamation each year to recognize and celebrate the contributions of the Latino community to the City of Alexandria, the Commonwealth of Virginia, and our nation.”
