Alexandria, Va. – For the fifth consecutive year, Alexandria City Councilman Canek Aguirre introduced a proclamation to formally recognize September 15 through October 15 as Latino Heritage Month in the City of Alexandria. The Alexandria City Council unanimously passed Aguirre’s proclamation at tonight’s City Council Legislative Meeting. During the proclamation presentation, Aguirre was joined by Latino business and nonprofit leaders, and City staff serving in various departments. Click here to watch the video.
"Latino history is American history. As we recognize and celebrate the contributions of the Latino and Hispanic community to our community and country we reinforce this undeniable fact," said Councilman Canek Aguirre. "I encourage the entire Alexandria community to attend events celebrating Latino culture and heritage throughout this month."
