Friends,
As I took the oath of office for a third time, I was filled with gratitude. Thank you to everyone who braved the cold to join us at the installation ceremony as we celebrated a new term. And thank you again to the people of Alexandria for entrusting me to help guide our great city for another three years.
If you missed the ceremony, you can watch video of my remarks here.
As I said, all of the progress we’ve made doesn’t happen by chance. Ensuring all Alexandrians can thrive requires all of us working together to address our challenges and to identify ways to maximize our opportunities. That's why inclusive community engagement will continue to be one of my top priorities.
Since my first term, we've transformed how the City engages with our diverse residents and businesses, but there is still more to do to ensure all voices are heard. We have to continue to meet people where they are because that results in better decisions, and it's how we make government more accessible and accountable to all of you.
Together, we have made tremendous investments in a brighter future for all of Alexandria. While we have some tough decisions ahead, I remain focused on increasing housing opportunities and access to health care, investing in our public schools and infrastructure, supporting our youth and small businesses, improving our transportation network and making transit more accessible, and strengthening our economy.
As policymakers we can’t do any of this alone. I’m counting on all of you to roll up your sleeves with us to continue moving Alexandria forward.
Let’s get to work.
